My graduate and post-doctoral students work on a range of deposit types (porphyry copper deposits, epithermal precious metal deposits, Carlin-type gold deposits, volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits, sediment-hosted Zn-Pb deposits, red bed copper deposits, iron oxide-Cu-Au deposits, etc.). Project locations are scattered around the world. The majority of the projects are field-based and emphasize careful collection and analysis of field geological data whether from surface mapping, detailed pit or underground mapping, or drill core logging. Laboratory work at CSM extends the information gained from the fieldwork to answer specific questions concerning the conditions and timing of ore deposition.
