| CARBONATE ROCK DATA SET MODFLOW Data Set |
Order No: DAT 04 |
Ground-water flow in an area composed of basin fill and underlain by carbonate rock in western Utah, eastern Nevada, and small parts of Arizona, California, and Idaho was studied as part of the U.S. Geological Survey's Great Basin Regional Aquifer-System Analysis, resulting in a report by Harrill et Al. (USGS, 1983). Based on the results of this study, a two-layer model was developed for the eastern part of the Great Basin, using the USGS Modular Three-Dimensional Finite-Difference Ground-Water Flow Model (MODFLOW). Results of the modeling effort are presented in Prudic, Harrill and Burbey (USGS, 1993). Detailed description of the model grid location, input values and output is published in Schaeffer (USGS, 1993).
DISTRIBUTION INFORMATION
This data set contains electronic documentation of the model grid and aquifer parameters, as well as MODFLOW input and output files. The Carbonate Rock Data Set is distributed by IGWMC as an aid in learning MODFLOW. It is distributed on a DOS-formatted disk and requires 0.8 Mb disk space to down load. Hard copies of the data set documentation by Harrill et Al. (1983), Prudic et Al. (1993) and Schaefer (1993) are also included. The MODFLOW code is not included.
