Add Catalyst to your Browser as a Custom Search Engine

Internet Explorer version 7 allows users to add custom search engines. You can create one to search Catalyst in only a few steps.

Setting Up the Online Bookstore to Catalyst Search

  1. Near the search box in the upper right corner of the browser, click the down arrow and select 'Find More Providers...' from the list of options.

  1. You'll come to a Microsoft site where you can select several other search engines. On the right, there is a form that walks you through the creation process.
  2. Paste
    http://catalyst.coalliance.org/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?DB=local&Search_Arg=TEST&CNT=25&SL=NONE&Search_Code=FT*&HIST=1
into the box in step 3 of that form.
  3. Enter the Name of your choice.
  4. Click on the Install button.
  5. Click on the Add Provider pop-up.
  6. A Catalog search should now be among your options for the search box.

How the Search Works

Entering search terms conducts a "Keyword (Relevance)" search, takes you directly to Catalyst, and displays your search results. From here you can refine your search as necessary.
