Why does the Call Number search not work as it should when I am looking for Theses, Government Documents or Archival Material?

Why does the Call Number search not work as it should when I am looking for Theses, Government Documents or Archival Material?

The Library is aware that in many cases, a search for a specific call number will direct you to a spot in the call number index that is several pages away from the record for which you are searching. We have contacted the vendor and will work with them on a potential solution.  When doing call number searches for these types of materials, you may have to browse forward or backwards on the results screen to find the specific call number.

Why do I get a "session timed out" message when I've only been using the catalog for a few minutes?

Catalog sessions which have had no activity for more than 10 minutes are automatically disconnected. If the cache settings in your browsers are set to never reload pages, you may get a "session timed out" message before 10 minutes.  If this is the case, set your browser settings to reload every session.

Why can't I renew my books through the catalog?

The majority of circulating library materials can be renewed through the catalog. There are, however, a few exceptions:
  • You have renewed the item for as many times as is allowed
  • If a Hold or Recall has been placed on an item, it cannot be renewed, but rather must be returned to the library for the requesting reader
  • Reserve materials may not be renewed through the catalog
  • Patrons whose accounts are blocked for overdue or lost items, or other reasons, will not have the option to renew any materials through the catalog.
