- The Library encourages patrons to use their personal laptops, or laptops checked out from the Computing Center, in the Library .
- Hardwired network connections are not available for personal laptops.
- The Library's wireless LAN enables AUTHORIZED laptop users to establish and maintain a wireless network connection throughout the Library.
- Patrons are welcome to use electrical connections that are not already being used.
- In some areas of the Library, electrical connections and tables are too far apart for laptop power cords to reach. Extension cords are available from the Circulation Desk. Extension cords are 8 feet long and do not necessarily work in every situation.
- PC Cards connect laptops to the campus network and the Internet.
- Laptops must be equipped with a PCMCIA card Type II or Type III slot in order to accommodate the PC Card.
- Contact the Computing Center for help in determining if your laptop is so equipped.
- Laptops must be
registered to use the campus wireless network
- Registration requires a current AC&N e-mail user name and password
- Laptops with built-in wireless may not need PC Cards, but must still be registered for use on the campus wireless network.
- CSM Students, Faculty and Staff can check out PC Cards
at the Circulation Desk for 4 hours; renewals are at the
discretion of Circulation staff
- Longer term loans may be available from the Computing Center front desk
- You can book Library PC Cards in advance for future use
- Contact the Circulation Desk for more information or to book a PC card
- The Library asks that PC Cards not leave the Library; overnight checkout is not permitted
