Map Room Information
The Colorado School of Mines has one of the largest map collections in Colorado. As of December 31, 2006, we have 208,674 maps and 6,782 monographs. Except for reference, rare and fragile items, all materials may be checked out of the Library in accordance with normal Library policies. The CSM Library is a member of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). Thus the Map Room receive maps published by the U.S. Government as well as from other sources, such as gifts and purchases. Types of maps in the collection include: Aeromagnetic Base or outline Climatic Earthquake Forest Geologic Geophysical Ground water Hydrologic Land use Land status Metallognetic Mineral resouces Oil and gas Orthophoto Topographic Vegetation The Map Room collection also includes: Atlases Aerial photographs and remote sensing images (limited Colorado coverage only) Gazetteers and geographical dictionaries Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Globes Indexes to map sets and series Monographs and reports about mapping, cartography, and remote sensing Tourist information and maps
