PURPOSE
OF THE COURSE
A practical, hands-on approach to modern techniques in risk management
and strategic decision making for all aspects of petroleum exploration
and production - prospect evaluation, resource allocation, diversification
and risk sharing, corporate planning, and strategy develoment.
If you are a manager
in the petroleum exploration and production industry, these issues
are of concern to you. Attend our three-day seminar where you will
learn to blend theory, practice, and common sense.

The Seminar is an advanced course
designed for staff and middle-level to senior-level managers actively
involved in a variety of functional levels in the petroleum industry.
Oil company vice presidents of exploration and production, finance
and planning, as well as exploration/engineering managers, economics/planning
personnel, and financial managers will all find the Seminar stimulating
and insightful. In additon, individuals performing similar functions

- Decision analysis utilizing influence diagrams and decision trees
- Competitive bidding models motivation and applications
- Applications of decision and risk analysis to the petroleum sector
- A review of statistics and probability concepts
- Value of information and its application to the E&P setting
- The value of sensitivity analysis and Monte Carlo simulation in E&P
Day 2
- Interpreting Monte Carlo simulation analysis to support decision making
- An overview of financial management and investment analysis
- Modern portfolio management theory and application
- Applying portfolio management to the E&P setting
- An Excel-based application of portfolio management from a planning perspective
- An overview discussion of option pricing theory
- Capital projects as real options evaluating investments
Day 3
- Extending the expected value analysis model to include risk propensity
- Financial risk tolerance and selecting the project s optimal share
- Utilizing risk tolerance to improve portfolio selections
- Measuring your firm s corporate risk tolerance what s right?
- Comparing your firm s financial risk tolerance to other firms
- Implications of E&P corporate risk-taking and performance
- Integration working in improve performance
REGISTRATION
INFORMATION
The Seminar fee is $1,895.00 (US). The fee includes continental breakfast and lunch each day, as well
as coffee breaks, tuition, and a notebook of the lecture and case
study materials.

CSM reserves the right to cancel the course and return registration
fees if enrollment is insufficient. Payment in full must accompany
registration.
CSM will refund the
course fee in full if the registration is canceled at least 30 days
prior to the Seminar. Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to
the Seminar are subject to a 50% penalty. No-shows are liable for
the entire Seminar fee. Personnel substitutions may be made at any
time.
