Grounding

This course covers the basic principles of electrical grounding and effect of electricity on the human body. All types of grounding schemes are evaluated from both safety and operational points of view, with the advantages and disadvantages of each explored. Hazards associated with all grounding schemes are analyzed.

Testing methods for all components of the grounding systems in accordance with the requirements of 30 CFR 57.120028 are explained and safe values determined. While this requriement is only required for M&MN mines, its results are imperative to safe operation of all electrical systems.
