SCOPE
OF THE COURSE
Each course will familiarize the participants with theoretical and
practical aspects of wire rope selection, use, maintenance and inspections.
The first course concentrates on surface mining applications, while
the second deals with underground mining applications, of wire ropes.
COURSE
FORMAT
Both courses include a combination of lectures, discussions, practical
exercises and demonstrations designed to provide the participants
with a thorough understanding of ropes: their properties, wear patterns,
inspection techniques and discard criteria.
PREREQUISITES
The participants are expected to have a general familiarity with the
mining equipment on which wire ropes are used.
COURSE
INSTRUCTORS
Professor Tad Golosinski has close to 40 years of professional
experience related to wire rope applications in mining earned worldwide.
Currently, Tad is Professor of Mining at the University of Missouri-Rolla.
