This module is an integrated science
curriculum that addresses the physical sciences--what is radiation
and radioactivity, the earth sciences--what earth materials are radioactive,
and the biological sciences--what effect does radon gas have upon human
health.
Teachers who successfully complete
the course will receive a curriculum notebook with background information
and classroom activities and a kit of materials to teach Units 2 and 3 of
the curriculum. Resource kits, which contain all of the necessary materials
to teach Unit 1, will be available on a "loan" basis for use in
the classroom.

This course is aligned to the National Science Education Standards. The module allows your students an opportunity to
apply problem-solving skills while using real data from industry in
searching for a natural resource.
Each teacher who successfully completes this course, and plans to teach it in their classroom, will receive the curriculum notebook with background material and activities and a resource kit of materials to teach the activities. The kit is valued at $160 and contains oil samples, core sample, maps and seismic charts, and a complete "Gushers 'n Dusters" simulation game. Teachers will also receive student workbooks to be used with their classes.

PALEONTOLOGY AND DINOSAURS

Teacher Resource Kit: $100 (Optional) The kit includes materials to teach the module, including dinosaur models, Dinosaur Ridge Field Guide, owl pellets, dinosaur bone and tooth models, etc. Kit may be purchased at a later date if desired.
This module teaches students basic paleontology concepts through the study of dinosaurs. The hands-on student activities use real data collected in the field, model dinosaurs and fossils to allow students to look at the earth's past by using a problem-solving approach. In addition the module integrates science, mathematics, and geography into a high-interest topic. This course is aligned to the Colorado Model Content Standards.
