Bar and Forging SteelsExamination of microalloying effects on phase transformations and microstructural evolution, properties, and fracture of bar and forging steels with ferrite-pearlite and bainitic microstructures. Analysis of the effects of forging parameters, induction heating, or cold work on transformation and properties of microalloyed steels and carburizing steels. Analysis of bending and fatigue behavior of carburized steels including effects of phosphorus content, alloy content, extent and type of shot peening, imposed stress conditions, and carburizing method. Analysis of the effect of banding on transformation behavior and properties of steels. Analysis of quench embrittlement in martensitic steels. Sheet and Coated SteelsCharacterization and modeling of formability in sheet steels, including interstitial-free steels and steels coated with various zinc layers applied by electrogalvanizing and hot-dip processing. Special topics include correlation of deformation behavior and mechanical properties as a function of processing and testing conditions, microstructural development, application of friction testing, the effects of annealing and alloying on recrystallization and texture formation in cold-rolled sheet steels, paint bake hardening, dual-phase and TRIP steels, and the analysis of dent resistant steels. Fatigue behavior of spot welds in advanced high strength sheet steel. Application of computer modeling techniques to the analysis of friction, formability, and performance of sheet steels. Mechanical properties of steels in hydroformed tubes. PlateExamination of the effects of alloy composition and processing on structures and properties of high-strength bainite-containing plate steels. Characterization of microstructural/property development in thin-slab cast hot rolled sheet. The effects of laser cutting on plate steel properites. Assessment of fire-resistant steels.
