Research Area: Alloying and Microstructure of Steels, Deformation Behavior and Mechanical Properties of Steels, Heat Treatment of Steels: hardening, martensitic transformation, tempering, and carburizing, Fracture and Failure Analysis of Steels
Technical Focus:
I am a physical metallurgist and materials scientist most interested in the processing, microstructure, and properties of metals and alloys, particularly steels. This requires knowledge of alloying effects, solid-state phase transformations, microstructure and fine structure, strengthening and deformation mechanisms, and fracture mechanisms under various stress, strain, and environmental states. All of these fundamental aspects of alloy behavior relate to the practical aspects of alloy productions, themomechanical processing, heat treatment, and performance.
