Thesis Title: Influence of Elongated MnS Inclusions on Fatigue of Hardened Steel Parts

Matt

Masters student Matt Jermyn loading a bending fatigue sample during a study to assess microstructural effects on fatigue.    Orientation, depth from surface, and heat treatment were varied to determine the influence of elongated MnS inclusions on fatigue performance of 1050 steel.  The test machines were donated by General Motors Corporation for this study.
