History of the Center for Hydrate Research

The goal of the Center for Hydrate Research is to do both fundamental and applied research on hydrates. This is the largest research center in the world dealing with hydrates and consists of about 15 students and faculty members at the Colorado School of Mines and associated faculty from the National Center for Atmospheric Research, the US Geological Survey, and the Canadian National Research Council.

We began our hydrate research in 1975. For the last ten years we have been funded from many sources: (1) an industrial consortium of 7 energy companies (currently BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Haliburton, Shell, and Statoil) (2) federal sources (NURP, DOE, NSF), (3) ACS-PRF and (4) the DeepStar Energy Consortium.

Note to Consortium Members:

To login to the website you now need a username and a password. The password is the same as before and the username is your company name (one word, all lower case). E.g. If the company I belonged to was Standard Oil, my user name would be standardoil. If you have any questions please email the webmaster.
