Research Interests:

Kinetics of gas hydrates, hydrate decomposition process, self-preservation effect

Education:

2005-2006 Postdoctoral Research - Environmental Earth Science, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan

2001-2005 Ph.D. - Environmental Earth Science, Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan

Current Research at CHR:

Under non-equilibrium conditions in a temperature range of about 240 K to the ice point, gas hydrates show an unexpected stability. This phenomenon is expected to be of importance for low-cost and efficient storage of natural gas in the form of hydrates. However, there is still limited data reported on this phenomenon, and little is known about the mechanism of the preservation effect. The goal of this project is to examine the stability of gas hydrates in and near the temperature range of anomalous preservation as a function of gas-composition and crystal-structure and clarify the mechanism of the preservation effect.
