Education
2002-present MSc. Metallurgical and Materials
Engineering Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO.
1999-2002 BSc. Metallurgical and Materials
Engineering
Colorado School of Mines, Golden, CO
1996-1999 BSc. Physics Centenary College of
Louisiana, Shreveport, Louisiana
Research and
Experience
1996 1998 Delta-T Geophysical
Consulting, Shreveport, Louisiana
Lab Technician - Worked with various computer programs to convert subsurface
electrical, nuclear, and sonic data to geophysical data for use in seismic
interpretations. Software included: Geographix, 2D/3D Pak, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel and Digirule.
1998 1999 Centenary College, Shreveport, Louisiana
Research Assistant - Researched and studied the effects of absorption of ultra-violet
light on the human body and the efficacy of sunscreen absorption
of ultra-violet rays. Instrumentation utilized was emission spectrometer and spectrophotometer.
Spring 2001 Colorado School of
Mines, Golden, Colorado
Research Assistant - Researched and studied the effects of hydrogen on the plasticity
and mechanical properties of 2-1/4 Cr 1 Mo. Indentation hardness
test and Gleeble machine used for testing and determination of mechanical properties.
Fall 2001-2002 Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado
Research Assistant - Researched affects of aging, self-irradiation, and phase stability
of reactive materials. Utilizing such instrumentation as: XRD, SEM, TEM, DTA, Calorimetry, Dilatometry,
Seebeck, Optical Microscopy, Gas Gun, Tensile/Compression testing, Split-Hopkinson Pressure Bar, Hall Effect, and Peltier Effect.
Fall 2002 Colorado School of
Mines, Golden, Colorado
Research Assistant - Determining the relationship between residual stress and the
Seebeck Coefficient (Thermoelectric Power) utilizing tensile testing with induced
elastic strain. This device allows an accurate measurement of residual stresses
resulting from welding and thus could lead to prevention of weld
cracking.
Fall 2002 Colorado School of
Mines, Golden, Colorado
Research Assistant - Using material science to model the corrosion of weldments
resulting in the development of the nucleation of a critically sized pit radius at
which pitting corrosion will begin.
Summer 2003 BAM (Federal Institute of Materials Research & Testing), Berlin, Germany
Research Scientist - Use of Thermoelectric Power to Assess Metallurgical Behavior in
Welds; a device is being designed to make non-destructive measurements of nitrogen concentration in welds.
