·         This book, available online and in hard copy (check-out from Student Development and Academic Services), discusses the different aspects of mentoring science and engineering undergraduates, graduate students and junior faculty.  Highlighted in text boxes are:  TIPS (steps to improve mentoring), STYLES (examples of good and poor mentoring), FACTS (the context of mentoring) and CHAPTER SUMMARIES.

·         This is targeted more for upper-class science and engineering students.  However, it is a good reference tool for those students who are struggling to decide on a major.  Not only does this resource provide useful information regarding the career decision-making process, it also offers case scenarios for students to consider and action steps to help students assess their own interests, values, and strengths.

·         The mission of the National Resource Center is to “build and sustain a vibrant campus-based…. Community committed to the success of first-year college students…”  The website offers access to online instructional resources on subjects such as classroom etiquette, academic advising, major selection, study skills, exam prep, time management, etc.  It also provides access to research on retention and first-year seminars.
