MSGN 497 - Leadership in Action

DESCRIPTION OF CLASS :
This 3-credit course is for up-and-coming leaders ( Sophomores and Juniors only ) and will combine readings, discussions and hands-on experiences as a means of learning and understanding the dynamics of leadership. Students will discover their own leadership potential as well as learn how to exercise leadership with little or no authority.  The material of the class is relevant for those seeking to have a positive impact in small groups, student clubs and organizations, or even campus-wide. This class will be primarily discussion oriented. Various experiential exercises and/or case studies may be employed to illustrate certain principles and concepts. Students will also participate in a service project and leadership project to further apply leadership concepts learned in class.  
Example class topics: Emotional Intelligence, Group Dynamics, Ethics and Integrity, Mentoring and Delegation, Facilitation, Conflict Management, and much more.
