What are the benefits of internships for employers?
Employers can benefit from student internships as much as the students themselves. By coordinating efforts with the CSM Career Center and the student, employers can find technically skilled employees to benefit their organization. Designing a CSM internship program can also provide the employer with a cost-effective means of attracting quality employees who are very interested in the operations of the organization.
In addition, employers can continually review the progress of the intern throughout the work period to determine whether or not the organization would be interested in having the intern return the following summer, or in a permanent capacity upon completion of their degree. The intern can also begin to decide if they would be interested in becoming a future employee of the organization.
Indeed, CSM student interns have proven to be a benefit to the employer by providing them with quality, career-oriented individuals with a world recognized educational background in the fields of Engineering, Applied Science, and/or Economics.
What types of internship positions are CSM students seeking?
Generally speaking, CSM students are interested in full-time summer internships, or part-time academic year internship opportunities.
Employers can recruit for interns by:
- posting the job on DiggerNet
- arranging on-campus interviews,
- collecting resumes at Career Day, or
- accessing our resume books.
