Welcome to the Colorado School of Mines
Office of Services for Students with Disabilities
The staff at the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (OSSD) welcomes you to the Colorado School of Mines. The University is committed to equal educational opportunities for students with disabilities in compliance with Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Acts of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. The OSSD is charged with providing reasonable accommodations for qualified undergraduate, graduate and professional students.
The goal of the OSSD is to provide and coordinate accommodations and support services that enable students with disabilities to be successful at the Colorado School of Mines. These are available to students with a variety of disabilities, including but not limited to attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, learning disorders, psychological disorders, vision impairment, hearing impairment, and other disabilities.
We work with students to manage the impact of their disability on living and learning at the Colorado School of Mines. They are provided with opportunities to learn about their rights and responsibilities and how to request accommodations. The OSSD staff also encourages students to learn to speak and act on their own behalf so they gain self-advocacy skills that can be applied throughout their undergraduate years as well as after graduation in their chosen careers.
