IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR JUNE AND AUGUST GRADUATING SENIORS

 

All students who will be completing requirements for their degree during the summer and field session are expected to participate in the May Commencement ceremony, as this will be your only opportunity to do so.  If you do not intend to participate, you must write a letter to the Dean of Students requesting permission to be excused, stating your reason, and sending it to the Dean's Office, which must be received no later than four weeks prior to Commencement .  Otherwise, your presence will be presumed, and your name will be included on both the marching list and seating chart.

You are also expected to attend Commencement Practice. Practices are always held on Wednesday the week before the commencement ceremony at 4:00 p.m. in Bunker Auditorium. Since we set up for both an outdoor ceremony, as well as an indoor ceremony (in case of inclement weather), it is necessary you attend the practice if at all possible to receive important information and instruction.

Summer graduates will be receiving only their diploma cover as they cross the stage. The silver diplomas may be picked up in the Registrar's Office after successful completion of your degree has been verified by the Registrar, and the Senior Check-out Form has been picked up, completed and returned to the Dean of Students Office. Check-out forms are available to you at Graduation Salute, and after in the Dean's Office.

Please follow the Schedule of Events provided, and remember, you will receive your diploma only by completing and returning the check-out form to the Dean of Students Office. It is necessary that June and August Seniors complete their check-out form prior to Field Session and/or Summer classes, keeping with the date of return given on the Check-out Form, in order to be counted as a participant in the Commencement ceremony. As is required for the spring graduates, the initially-allotted tickets will be given to you when the check-out process is completed. Once completed, you must bring your card to the Dean's Office for approval and to pickup your tickets.
