Q: Can I bring my own refrigerator?
A: Yes, it must be a mini-sized refrigerator - less than
3 cubic feet.
Q: Can I bring my own microwave?
A: Yes, it must be a small portable microwave, preferably
750 to 1000 watts.
Q: What is the size of the bed and do I supply my own
linens?
A: Typical mattress size is 36 inches wide, 80 inches long,
and 6 inches high. Usually, extra long twin sheets fit the best. You must
supply your own mattress pad, sheets, pillow, pillow case, blanket, towels, washcloths,
and any other personal toiletry items. CSM has partnered with Residence Halls Linens to provide a linens service with allows parents to find many products including extra long twin sheets, comforters, bath, & storage items. Go to www.rhl.org to see the wide selection offered.
Q: What are the measurements of the room?
A: Traditional Halls
Typical Double - approximately 12' wide by 16' deep
Typical Single - approximately 8' 9" wide by 16' deep
Weaver Towers (approximate sizes)

All rooms have a desk, desk chair, bed, extra long mattress, closet, and study
light per person.
Q: Can I loft the beds in my room?
A: Yes, but your bed must be no closer than 3 feet from
the ceiling for fire code purposes. Your Resident Assistant or Hall Director
will give pre and post inspection and approval of the loft for design
and safety reasons. All of the beds in double rooms of the Residence
Halls are bunkable. Also, there are several hardware stores in the area. Lofts may also be rented at the beginning of the year from Loft-It! inc. which typically has a locates a signup tent outside the Traditional Hall and Weaver Towers at student check-in. For questions regarding renting lofts from Loft-It! inc. please contact Joanne Gantt at (970) 563-4249.
Q: How much is a bike locker to rent?
A: $50.00 per semester and $30.00 for the summer. We do not have a lot
of locker space and they are given away on a lottery drawing basis.
Inquire about renting a bike locker at the front desk of your Residence
Hall. You may store your bike in your room as long as it does not interfere
with fire evacuation, but it may not be hung by hooks from the ceiling.
Q: Can personal items be shipped in advance?
A: Yes. When you ship your items, please put your name and building
you will be living in on the "ship to" address. We will store
your items at the front desk and you may pick them up upon your arrival
by showing proper identification.

Please put PERSONAL ITEMS on the box so that the CSM warehouse
won't open the box. If the boxes are addressed this way, the warehouse
will deliver the items to the desk for the appropriate area.
Q: What is my mailing address?
A: If you want to give out your address before you come, please use
the following format:

(Do not put CSM in the address or mail may be sent to the Administration
building on campus)
Q: Can furniture be moved out of the room?
A: No, you may disassemble your bed but it must stay in your room during
the year. However, if you disassemble furniture it must be properly reassembled upon checkout of the room.You may bring your own bed, desk, or dresser, but all furniture
that comes with the room must stay in the room at all times. The school
does not have storage space for the furniture that belongs in the rooms.
Q: Is there storage space for boxes and trunks?
A: There is no storage space available for student's items outside their
room, so please be very careful of what you bring to put in your room.
Usually you do not need to save your boxes, as boxes are available from
other sources at the end of the year, i.e. Bookstore, Safeway, Golden
merchants, etc.
Q: Does the school have gun storage?
A: Yes, but it is not in the Residence Halls. If you plan to have a rifle
or other shooting instruments while at school, you will need to contact
Public Safety (303) 273-3333. They have storage facilities on campus for your weapons.
You will need to check on storage of ammunition with them also, or you
will need to find storage for your weapons and ammunition off campus.
Q: What is the difference between the Apartments at Mines Park and the Residence Halls at Mines Park?
A: The Residence Halls at Mines Park is set up for freshmen residents and is designated as freshmen living. Residents of the Residence Halls at Mines Park are required to purchase a meal plan. The Apartments at Mines Park have been primarily set-up for upperclassman living, in which residents do not purchase a meal plan, but pay utilities. Q: Cost of laundry?
A: wash - 75 cents or a dollar per load; dry - 75 cents or a dollar per load,
drying time is approximately 45 minutes to an hour.
All of our machines were replaced in 2004. Change for the machines is
available at the front desk or C3 Store (Mines Park Community Center). If you would like to check on availability of laundry machines (Laundrimate System) there are phone numbers posted in each laundry room for the specific Residence Halls.
Q: Can I bring a vehicle?
A: Yes, there is freshman parking on campus. You must register
your vehicle at Public Safety (303) 273-3333 and get a decal to put on your car.
There is no additional parking fee at CSM. For further information
regarding parking regulations please see the Department of Public Safety.
Do not leave your car unlocked or leave any valuable items in sight inside
your car.
Q: Is there motorcycle parking?
A: Yes, and you must also register your motorcycle with Public Safety.
Q: What if I want to switch roommates?
A: At any time please see your Resident Assistant if you are having roommate
problems. Your R.A. will try to help you work through the issues causing conflict. Due to our
halls being at maximum capacity, switches may not be possible immediately.
All parties must be in agreement of a switch. The Housing Office will
notify the R.A. when a switch is to occur, and approval must come from
the Housing Office for all room switches.
Q: Is smoking allowed in the Residence Halls?
A: Due to state regulations, smoking is not allowed in any
building on campus. Smoking outside the Residence Halls needs to be a reasonable distance from entry ways, windows, and ventilation systems (typical rule of thumb, 50 feet from building).
Q: When do I choose my meal plan?
A: You must choose your meal plan prior to entering the dining hall for
the first time in the fall. At registration, you will be charged for a
19 (Marble) meal per week plan, and if you choose something different, we will make
appropriate changes and compensation at that time. You may change your meal
plan any time during the first 5 business days of the semester. After
that you may only change at the beginning of the next semester.
Q: What electrical items can I use in my room?
A: Hot pots, coffee pots, irons, stereos, computers, TVs, VCRs, popcorn
poppers, hair dryers curling irons, and any other unexposed heating
element items. No cooking is allowed in the rooms due to the odor,
pests, and fire hazards in the Traditional Halls (Morgan Hall, Thomas Hall, Bradford Hall, and Randall Hall). All cooking must be done in kitchen areas of
Weaver Towers or individual units in Mines Park.
Q: What items are available at the front desk for checkout?
A: We have the following items: minor tools, vacuum cleaners, dust pans,
brooms, buckets, mops, cleaning supplies, replacement light bulbs, ironing
boards and irons, cooking utensils, athletic equipment, change for vending
machines, stamps, magazines, and board games. If you see a need for something
we do not have, please see your R.A. or your R.H.A. representative.
Q: Can I make long distance phone calls from my room?
A: All rooms are equipped with landline phones and you may make long
distance phone calls. HOWEVER, you must use a calling card or call collect. You will need to provide your own phone.
No long distance calls can be charged to your room, including accepting
collect calls. You may make "800" calls from your room. There are a limited number of phones available for checkout on a first come, first serve basis at the Residence Hall's front desks if you do not bring a phone of your own.
