How to Apply


Please read through the form first before you start filling out the application.


There are three forms that you need to fill out:

 

             1. Application Form

             2. International Student Fact Sheet

             3. Statement of Support


These three forms must be completed to ensure proper evaluation of admission. Please fill in all information. Answer all questions completely. You may also print out this form and mail it to us.

After you completed the application forms and International Student Fact Sheet, you must send to us via mail each of the listed items below:

· Results of the TOEFL and TWE sent directly from the Educational Testing Service.

· Official transcripts (grade reports in secondary school, college, or university), certificates, and/or diploma demonstrating completion of preparatory studies for higher education.

· Certified literal English translations of all transcripts and supporting documents that are in languages other than English.

· List of courses in which you are currently enrolled.

· Confidential Statement of Support (showing a minimum of $29,000).

· Supporting documents or letters from bank or sponsoring agency.

· Application fee ($45).

Colorado School of Mines Policy on English Language Proficiency

 

The minimum computer-based TOEFL requirement for admission to Colorado School

of Mines is 213 Composite. Listed below is the policy that has been set forth by the

Assistant Director of Admissions to insure that a student has the required English

proficiency to begin academic coursework. You must meet with the International

Student Advisor upon arrival on campus for final English Placement.

TOEFL SCORE

REQUIREMENT

 

 

213 above (550)

May begin full-time academic work. However, all sections of the TOEFL must be above 22(CBT)/55(PBT). If any scores are below these levels, additional English classes may be required.*

 

173 to 212

(500 to 549)

May be allowed to take one or two academic courses with the approval of academic advisor and International Student Advisor. Requirements for additional English will be determined by the International Student Advisor after English proficiency testing.

 

Below 173

(Below 500)

Must complete a language program. Will not be allowed to register for CSM classes until an acceptable level of English proficiency is achieved.
