All dependents on F-2, J-2 or M-2 visas must also file a Form 8843. However, if you worked in exchange for money (ex. TA, RA, or other on-campus employment, or CPT, OPT, academic training off-campus), you must either file a Form 1040 NR or Form 1040 NREZ. All forms are due at the Internal Revenue Services by April 15. They should be sent to:
Internal Revenue Services Philadelphia, PA 19255
If you did not earn US-source taxable income, your forms will be due by June 15. Because the tax laws and treaties can be rather complicated, the International Office tries to schedule a tax consultant to visit the CSM campus each spring (before April deadline) to answer your questions and advise you about correct forms, filing and any exemptions or uncommon requirements you may not be aware of. Check your email for notices from the International Office as to when you can expect the tax consultant at CSM. |
