The
CSM student section of AADE has been very busy this semester. Since
Elections our memberships have grown steadily to over 50 paid members. Our
polo shirts were designed by Chelsea Womble and have been a major hit.
Earlier today I even saw Dr. Graves wearing her AADE Polo. She spent most
of last year giving drillers a hard time.
We are excited to have Jon Decker form Weatherford coming to give a presentation over lunch on March 26. We are always looking for Engineers to come and give talks at mines, if you are interested in talking please contact me. On the January 30th meeting the national president Andy Ellis encouraged us to take control of the offical website. Since then we have gained access and have the site updated. I encourage everyone to visit it and leave feedback http://www.aade.org/Denver/CSM/Default.htm
The CSM section has been working with the Denver chapter to create a mentoring program. We currently have 15-20 students interested in getting advice on job offers, classes and internships from the prospective of the industry. We would like to work towards a 1 to 1 ratio of students to engineers. If you are interested in being a mentor please contact Dominic Spencer, Dave Snyder, or myself.
The PE students have been keeping the Denver chapter scholarship committee busy with a large number of scholarship applicants. The CSM student section would like to thank the Denver chapter again for the scholarships we received last year and for the scholarships we recieved at the March 8th Meeting. The scanners donated to the PE Department have been very useful this last year. All of our paid student section members will also be members of the professional society, again thanks to the generosity of the professional chapter.
I hope to get a chance to see everyone downtown for the May 1th meeting. Be sure to bring money because we will be selling AADE polo and button up shirts.
I would also like to announce that the AADE student section will be hosting a golf tournament in conjunction with the student section of SPE this fall. It is tentatively scheduled for September 9. The weekend before our fall career fair. Again if you are interested in attending please contact me.
Make sure and visit the Officers, Members and Calendar pages as they have been updated with some of the new 2007 information!

What is AADE?
The
American Association of Drilling Engineers is a non-profit, volunteer
organization founded in New Orleans in 1978 and is made up of an affiliation
of independent chapters licensed and governed by a National Board.
Formation of the AADE was based on the fact that no existing drilling industry organization was consistently providing technical exchange specifically for Drilling Engineers.
The early success and acceptance of this effort led to the expansion of AADE. Nine chapters are now active in New Orleans, Lafayette, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Midland (Permian Basin), Oklahoma City-Tulsa (Mid-continent), Denver, Bakersfield (West Coast), and Anchorage. National membership is nearing 5,000 active members, and has remained steady despite the fluctuations experienced by the industry.
The AADE
has experienced continued growth in membership and reputation by focusing on
its mission, vision and value statement.
AADE offers a forum for the exchange of information, among its members and guests, specifically on drilling related topics. AADE chapters generally meet once a month where programs are presented by knowledgeable industry leaders in an informal luncheon or dinner environment.
AADE chapters also offer all-day forums as well as annual multi day technical conferences to provide the opportunity for industry experts to present in depth coverage on current topics and latest technology.
AADE chapters publish a newsletter and/or maintain a web page (www.aade.org) to keep members informed on activities and local drilling industry information.
