MEETING MINUTES

April 20, 2008

Hey there EBW faithful!

This week we will NOT HAVE A MEETING! Instead, please attend the Climate Action Days symposium, happening from 1pm - 8pm in Berthoud Hall 241. There will be presentations on the Bike Share project, getting sustainability into CSM curricula, climate awareness seminars, a movie, and multiple panel discussions. See tomorrow's online Oredigger for a full rundown in the "Green Tip of the Week" story. Come out all this week and bring your friends. EBW will be co-hosting a panel discussion on recycling with EH&S this Wednesday, from 12 - 1 in the student center ballrooms. Please attend this event if you can. There will be a lot of interesting information provided on the status of recycling on campus and where it's headed. If you, or anyone you know, has any questions, this is the place to ask them!

Again, NO MEETING this week. We will have our last meeting of the semester on April 29, at the usual time and place. This meeting will be critical in deciding the future of EBW. We didn't get to cover much of that at last week's meeting due to Climate Action Days planning.

See the below message from Andrea for information on this Saturday's volunteer event. If you are planning to attend, this message is directly for you!

Hey All,

Just a reminder that our upcoming service trip is about a week away!
If you are planning to attend please email ayocom@mines.edu and we can work out a carpool arrangement. I'm happy to drive, so it's just a matter of when and where to meet. Here is a summary of the plan:

When: Sat, Apr 26, 09:00am ? 2:00pm
Where: 10625 W. I-70 Service Road, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
Description: EBW partners with fraternal insurance company Woodmen of the World/Assured Life Association for a day of helping others realize their home ownership dreams at the Habitat Home Improvement Outlet in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Come make a difference - and enjoy a lunch provided by WOW. RSVP to ayocom@mines.edu by April 3, 2008. More information about the Wheat Ridge outlet may be found in this PDF, and I encourage all volunteers to read this document prior to committing.

Information about Woodmen of the World:

Woodmen of the World/Assured Life Association are a fraternal life insurance company which, in addition to providing financial security for its members, takes an active role in its community through volunteer programs. Join Hands Day, which I take part in each year, is held the first Saturday of May each year to reach across generations to improve the community. However, Join Hands Day is just one program Denver Woodmen is involved in. They also hold an annual Christmas party for underprivileged children in the Denver area, complete with Santa and gifts. Adopt-a-Family, a program to deliver food and gifts to poverty level families, is also active during the holiday season. Woodmen employees involve their children and friends in these volunteer activities; I have been involved since I was 12 through my mother, their ex-underwriter and a member of their board. More information about WOW/ASA and their volunteer history can be found here.

See you all at Climate Action Days!
