MEETING MINUTES

April 26, 2008

EBWers!

Climate Action Days is over. A BIG thank you to all members who helped out, organized, set up, cleaned up, and provided ideas. While turnout for many of the events was not so great, we showed some people this campus cares about the environment and sustainability. So, props!

As for this week, we will be having our final club meeting Tuesday, April 29, from 12-1 in CO 137. We will have lunch as usual. I will devote most of this meeting to officer elections for next fall, so PLEASE ATTEND IF YOU CAN. I am looking for several positions:

  1. President
  2. Vice-president
  3. Treasurer
  4. Comestibles (food)
  5. Meeting Coordinator
  6. Webmaster
  7. Project Leaders
  8. Board of Student Organizations rep
Most of these positions are currently filled. I would like to hash out if the current people want to stay on in their roles, move into other ones, create new positions, etc. I WILL bring copies of the club by-laws and we will look at the leadership section to determine what needs to happen.

BIG NEWS!!! I have been in contact with representatives from Engineers Without Borders (EWB), the club EBW emerged from several years ago. There is interest on many levels (student, faculty, administratively) to restart an EWB chapter here. I think this would be a great opportunity for EBW to restructure itself as an official EWB chapter. Organization, funding, project advice/aid are all benefits of re-joining this global organization. We will still maintain our connections and relationships with the Golden Optimists and the Golden Rotary.

Dave Munoz and I have been talking with EWB officials recently. I will hopefully have more detailed information come Tuesday, and will keep you posted. Tuesday's meeting will also cover this topic, and I want to hear EVERYone's opinion on this proposal. Nothing has been finalized yet.

I hope to see many of you this Tuesday for lunch. Again, ANYone who wants to get involved, but cannot make the Tuesday meetings, let me know by e-mail (jfish@mines.edu), and we'll work out what needs to happen.

Stay tuned for more updates!
