EBW,
This week we'll meet at the usual time and in the usual place:
Tuesday, 12-1 in CO137. There will be food provided, graciously, by
Alex.
Last week we watched a video via YouTube of a lecture given by William
McDonough on his book "Cradle to Cradle." Most of the presentation
focused on the concepts of sustainable architecture he is trying to
convey. I encourage anyone interested to watch it (about 20 minutes
long). Follow the
link.
This week we'll focus on several issues:
- First, Alex has spoken to Student Life and they have given us
permission to display a bicycle and posters in the student center to
raise awareness for the bike project. We've decided to ask for
donations to the program too, maybe $1 per person if they'd like to.
At this week's meeting we'll be working on what should go on the
posters, who can sit at a table for donations, how long we should
leave the display up, etc... I have a bicycle for us to use that'll
get the point across pretty well.
- Next, the Ghana pump project is under the leadership of Alex. He
needs help from EBW students! This is a great opportunity for people
who cannot make the weekly meetings, but still want to be involved.
Contact Alex Gan at agan@mines.edu if you're interested, have
questions, or just want to know about the project. There is potential
for a group of EBW students to visit Ghana in the future if we can get
some good progress on the pump system.
- Through Shay Robinson, EBW will soon have a poster of its own, a
distinctive advertisement we can place around campus, at Celebration
of Mines, and other events. We will discuss this briefly on Tuesday.
I will be attending the weekly meeting of the Golden Rotary club to
tell them about EBW and continue to build relations between the clubs.
I am looking for a volunteer to come with me to the meeting. It will
be at 7am tomorrow morning. I know it's an early rise, but it won't be
a long meeting either and it's close. I'm driving there, so if anyone
is interested, please e-mail me back by this evening.
See you all tomorrow!
