November 29, 2004 - Wiccans:

The basis of the Wiccan belief is that there is a god and a goddess. Both the god and the goddess have many names to themselves and certain aspects have been identified and given names by different communities throughout the centuries (Greeks, Eqyptions, Romans, Incans, Mayans etc.). Each practitioner has the choice to interact with whom they want, to interact with a particular named god or goddess, and the aspects that come with that god or goddess. Carolyn due to her love of cats personally chooses to call upon and enteract with Bast, the Egyption Cat goddess. At any ceremony the genreal practice is to clean the area of bad energy, then to call in the four corners (Fire, Earth, Water, and Air) this prepares the area to call in the diety/dieties you wish to interact with.

The Wiccan calender is based on the lunar calender and follows the life cycle of the gods. Starting at the Yule (during the Christmas season) they celebrate the birth of the god, he then grows, eventually he courts the goddess, and then dies to restart the cycle.

Wiccans are usuly structued into clans where they practice and interact with other Wiccans and learn and study. There are no specific books or texts to follow, and during a witch's life he/she usually keeps a Book of Shadows that entails what they have learned spell , prayers, or anything else that the individual wishes to write down.
