History of Colorado Delta
Our
Pi Beta Phi is divided into 26 providences. Colorado Delta is in the Psi providence, with includes chapters in Colorado and Wyoming. Each providence has officers that connect the chapter with Grand Council. A providence president guides the work of the active chapters with her respective providence, and is responsible to Grand Council for their actions. She visits each chapter in her providence every year, making reports and recommendations. Our providence president is Suzette Farrar.
There are currently five chapters in the Psi providence:
| Chapter | College | Founded | Location |
| Colorado Alpha | University of Colorado, Boulder | 1884 | Boulder, CO |
| Wyoming Alpha | University of Wyoming | 1910 | Laramie, WY |
| Colorado Gamma | Colorado State University | 1954 | Fort Collins, CO |
| Colorado Delta | Colorado School of Mines | 1986 | Golden, CO |
| Colorado Epsilon | University of Colorado, Colorado Springs | 2002 | Colorado Springs, CO |
Our Local History
A local sorority named Omega Delta Psi was formed in 1983. It was this ambitious sorority that founded the Colorado Delta chapter of Pi Beta Phi. They also began the infamous E-Days bed race. The members of Omega Delta Psi wanted to start a new sorority, but ditched the idea when they learned they had to establish 25 chapters nationwide before they could even be considered. Instead, they decided to affiliate with one that had already been established. When they interviewed the national sororities, they found Pi Beta Phi to be exactly what they had hoped for. Pi Phi has great support and backing, however locally, the chapter was an individual one making the best decisions for itself. In 1986, they were affiliated with Pi Beta Phi and began development of our great chapter.
Twelve women competing in a largely male dominated scholastic atmosphere. Twelve women who wanted to make a lasting impact on their campus by forming a group which would provide a chance for women to associate in a organized manner. Before Colorado Delta became a chapter, it existed for two and a half years as a local sorority - Omega Delta Psi - on the Colorado School of Mines campus.
The Founding Story
One evening in 1983, two initiators and roommates, Jill Williford and Chris Miller, were discussing with the one greek option available to women at CSM. Somehow the idea of simply "forming their own" was contrived. After careful selection of ten other girls whom they thought would be amenable to the idea, a constitution was written with the help of the Student Activities Director, Bill Hill, and Omega Delta Psi was formed on April 3rd.
The founding Chapter Members are:

There was extreme opposition to the idea, but this attitude sparked our determination to succeed. We continued to grow in size and campus popularity and prestige and it soon became evident that we had the capacity to be much more that local. Letters were written to several national sororities and five possible colonization responses were received. The five sororities were scheduled to come and meet us. We listened to the first four, but little did we know that we saved the best for last.
From the moment that our beloved Nancy Rodgers and Jean Scott, and numerous alumnae walked on campus, we wanted to be Pi Phi's more than we could possibly express. Fortunately, the feeling was mutual and we were pledged on October 20th, 1985. On February 1st, 1986, we were honored to be initiated by Grand President Carolyn Helman Lichtenberg.
Our affiliation with Pi Beta Phi has been absolutely fantastic as we have been encouraged to maintain our individuality as a chapter, while at the same time integrate all of the wonderful things about Pi Phi on our campus. A New Mexico Alpha alumna attending the installation festivities summed it up perfectly:
"I heard about your founding story and I couldn't miss any of this. It just goes to show you that you never tell a Pi Phi what she can't do!" - Kristin Westwater
