League Sport Descriptions

FLAG FOOTBALL:
This team sport is played with teams of seven. Intramural Flag Football Teams can consist of just men, just women, or men and women! At least 5 players are required to avoid a forfeit. Teams can choose to play in organizational or independent leagues. Teams are also required to send a representative to the captain’s meeting (Thursday, September 7th at 5:00 PM). The entry deadline is Tuesday, September 5TH at 5:00 PM – so sign up as soon as possible.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE:
This team sport is played with teams of five. Ultimate Frisbee is played on Fridays on the IM Field. No prior experience is necessary, just come on out each week for some fast action, high flying FUN! Only 3 club members are allowed per team! Captain’s Meeting is mandatory and takes place on Thursday, September 7th at 5:30pm. The entry deadline is Tuesday, September 5th at 5:00pm.

VOLLEYBALL:
6 vs. 6 indoor volleyball will take place Monday - Thursday nights down in the Steinhauer Fieldhouse. Grab your friends and form a team today so you don’t miss out on the V-Ball action. We will offer both organizational & independent leagues as well as co-rec play. Each match will be best 2 out-of 3 games using rally scoring. Captain’s Meeting is mandatory and will be on Thursday, September 28th at 5:00pm. The entry deadline is Tuesday, September 26th at 5:00pm.




Tournament Sport Descriptions

3 VS. 3 GRASS VOLLEYBALL:
Start the IM Season off right with our 3 vs. 3 Grass V-Ball Tourney. There are no gender requirements...just be sure to let us know if you want to be in the competitive or recreational division. There will be tunes and plenty of good times!

FANTASY FOOTBALL:
You want to see Michael Vick throw TD’s to T.O, but they are on separate teams. With fantasy football you can have them both on your team! Let’s see what kind of general manager/coach you are! Sign up quick because there are not many spots! Draft is on Sunday, September 3.

WIFFLEBALL:
You don’t have to be on “the juice” to be a homerun hitter in wiffleball. Think your team can out slug the rest of the field? Then bring your game to the IM field for your chance to make it to the wall of fame.

DISC GOLF SINGLES :
Think your disc game is up to par? Then take your game to the Mines Park Disc Golf Course on Sunday, September 10 and see if you make the cut.

GOLF SCRAMBLE:
This two-person scramble will take place on Thursday, September 14 at Westwoods Golf Course in Arvada. Tee times will begin at Noon. Cost is $30 for 18 holes and a cart! Shirts will also be awarded for long drive & closest to the pin.

TENNIS SINGLES:
This one day tourney will take place at the newly finished CSM tennis courts! Tournament format will depend upon the number of entries, but the competition is sure to be strong…all day long!

CHESS:
Who said chess isn’t a sport? We have boards here in the IM office to check out or you can use your own. Play at least one match per week in this exciting IM tournament.

JOHN MADDEN ’07 PS2:
Are you in the game? Pick your team and go head to head against your fellow Orediggers to see if you become a legend on the sticks! Tourney date is Sunday, September 24.

RACQUETBALL SINGLES:
One of the most popular Mines IM Sports of all time! Meet up with a fellow CSM student once a week at the Volk gym courts and engage in a spirited best 2 out-of 3 match. Racquets & balls may be checked out from the equipment room.

DISC GOLF DOUBLES :
Now you know the competition is deep, but you’ve been practicing, so you and your partner are ready, right? You better be by Sunday, October 1.

3 ON 3 BASKETBALL:
This tourney is intense! Can your three person squad survive the bracket? Are you a Cinderella story, or has the clock struck midnight on your chances of an IM Championship t-shirt? Bring your “A” game, tourney starts Monday, October 2.

CROSS COUNTRY:
Ever been in class and wanted to be outside running? This is your chance. Sign up as an individual or create a team to test the Mines IM 5k course. Fun is the focus on this course…so get out & participate!

FREE THROW CONTEST:
So you shoot free throws better than Shaq; however, it’s not that easy as the Mines hoopers have shot around the 90% mark to earn this title the last couple of years. We will be shooting in Volk gym & all are welcome!

INDOOR SOCCER:
GOOOOOAAAALLLL! Fast and furious competition taking place in the Steinhauer Field House is guaranteed. Get out there and recruit Pele, but no Zidane head butts! Teams consist of 4 players & a goalie…so start recruiting today!

TIGER WOODS ’06 PS2:
The second part of our PS2 series. Make Tiger proud and put on the green jacket, better yet, the IM Championship t-shirt!

BOWLING:
Teams of 4 (max 20 teams) will join together at Golden Bowl for this one night tourney. We will crown a team champ as well as our male & female top rollers. Cost is $5/person or $20 for the team.

KICKBALL:
Old school IM’s are back this fall starting with the KICKBALL tourney! This one day tourney requires 6 per team and is sure to be a kick! Games will be on the IM Softball Field and we will supply everything from there…HAVE FUN!

TEXAS HOLD ‘EM:
You’ve seen it on the deuce, and now it’s your turn to go ‘all in’. Join fellow Diggers in the student center ballrooms on Monday, November 6th to earn the title of Mines IM Hold ‘Em Champion!!

TABLE TENNIS:
Come one, come all & smack that little round ball. It’s always a hit in the Fieldhouse when the Club Sport Table Tennis team sets up this tournament for the CSM community. Paddles & balls are provided, so all you need to do is sign up & show up.

SWIM MEET:
This is just like the Olympic competition you’ve been watching each night…except that our Mines Athletes are free from performance enhancing drugs (we will be testing...so don’t get any ideas). This is a great event for teams or individuals and the crowd support always makes this an unforgettable event!

NBA LIVE ’07 PS2:
The third part in our PS2 series. Think you, Wade & Shaq can bring the Heat another Championship? We’ll find out on Sunday, November 19.

MONSTER DODGEBALL:
Who said dodgeballers are not athletes? Say that on the court when the balls are flying at your … This will be your last chance of the semester to don the IM Championship t-shirt!
