Every couple of years, the office of Student Development and Academic Services conducts a survey of students concerning attitudes and use of alcohol and other drugs. In the early 1990s, we started using the Core Drug and Alcohol Survey, so that our results could be compared with results from other colleges and universities. Our last survey, in the spring of 2005, was conducted on a student population of 560 freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors. This research revealed a number of misperceptions about alcohol and drug use among the CSM students. The Social Norms campaign was updated and launched in the fall of 2005.
