Empty nest? Isn’t that a myth? You’ve worked hard as a parent, and you’re more than ready to dive into your new life with gusto. You see this transition as an opportunity for you and your child – A chance to experiment, learn and tackle adventure.
Before you leave skid marks flying the coop, however, remember that you’re still a parent, even if you officiate over an empty nest. It’s important that your kid not feel rejected or abandoned while you cavort all over the world and savor all this new freedom. You still have enormous influence and continue to play an important role in helping your child learn to make adult decisions. So, relish this fabulous new phase in your life, but don’t forget to check in on your little chickadee – even if you’re calling from a cell phone as you sail down the Nile.
