Referral Services
While many students can get their needs met within Student Development Services, there are occasions when a student may need to be referred to a mental health professional in the local community. Generally, referrals will be made when the issues are beyond the scope or expertise of the counseling staff. SDS maintains a referral list of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, licensed professional counselors and certified addictions counselors. Referral does not imply an edorsement of the provider by SDS.
Special CSM Counseling Center Referral Benefit
In 2000, CSM was the first college in the US to create an extension to the mental health coverage available to students who participate in the school's Student Health Benefit Plan. This special extension, called the "Special CSM Counseling Center Referral Benefit" is only available to student's who participate in CSM's student health plan. Several mental health professionals participate in this plan.
