A Small College in Rural Iowa (Alsiv Slide Show Applet)

Note: The applet may take a minute to download. It starts with a gray rectangle with a coffee cup in the corner. If a red X appears, then you need to install the Java Plug-in, which happens automatically when you install Java (click on "Get It Now"). You can find more information at the Java Plug-in home page .

This slide show applet is called Alsiv, Alsiv is still beta (experimental). You may especially have trouble if you have a slower internet connection (e.g., dial-up). If it seems to hang you might try reloading it. Java will cache the images on your hard drive, so after you've been through the show once it will load and run much faster.

I am giving Alsiv away under an open source license. If you are interested in using Alsiv for your own slide show, and you are not geeky, email me and I will tell you how to use it. If you are a geek, (and you know who you are), look at the directory containing this file. All you have to do is to take the files alsiv.jar and 25thReunionGrinnellClassOf79_SlideShow.html and put them in a directory with your own images. Put in a list of your images and captions called AlsivImageList.txt (use the one in the directory as an example) and you're done.
