Dr. Pei Xu Research Assistant Professor Phone: (303) 273-3932 Fax: (303) 273-3413 E-mail: pxu@mines.edu
Research Interests:My research has focused on water and wastewater treatment technologies, and potable and non-potable water reuse. I have been involved in research related to membrane technologies to remove trace organic pollutants from water and to understand rejection mechanisms and fouling issues; beneficial use of methane co-produced water through high pressure membranes and capacitive deionization technology; brackish groundwater desalination using hybrid systems; wastewater disinfection by ozone, UV and lagoon treatment. With regards to the complexity of water management, I have also developed a modeling approach to simulate and optimize water management systems at the regional- or catchment-scale incorporating benefit-cost analysis, reliability and feasibility considerations. My research has been funded by Awwa Research Foundation (AwwaRF), WateReuse Foundation (WRF), U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (BOR), and private industry.
