Brief Biography
Dr. Carr obtained his B.A. in physics at the University of California, Berkeley in 1994.
In 1996 he began a Master's/Ph.D. program in physics at the University of Washington in Seattle, receiving his Ph.D.
in March 2001. He was a
Distinguished International Fellow of the National Science Foundation from 2001-2004
at the Ecole normale superieure in Paris, and a professional research associate at JILA in Boulder, Colorado from
2003-2005. He has also been a visiting researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology
located just outside Washington, D.C.,
the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden, Germany, the
Kavli Institute of Theoretical Physics in Santa Barbara, California, and the Institute Henri Poincare
at the Universite Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, France.
Presently, he is an assistant professor at the Colorado School of Mines.
Other positions he has held include English teacher, theatre actor, and dishwasher.
Besides physics, he enjoys writing, philosophy, and world travel.
