Virtual Tour

This tour comes to you courtesy of students — freshmen and sophomores — in our award-winning program Engineering Practices Introductory Course Sequence (EPICS). Given projects that present engineering challenges, students develop key skills for their upper-division courses and future careers. The programs covers topics including:

  • the computer as a problem-solving tool
  • word-processing, graphics, spreadsheet and CAD packages
  • 3-D visualization
  • audience analysis and the preparation of a variety of technical documents
  • oral communication and skills in group work
  • project management.
Over the last three years, groups of Design EPICS II students have been building and assembling a highly accurate 3-D model of our campus and have published it to Google Earth. Each semester new students add buildings and features to the model so that presently it includes the main campus buildings, Greek Row and Mines Park.
(To run this tour, you must have Google Earth installed.)
