Accessibility at mines

Colorado School of Mines is committed to providing equal access to university courses, programs and activities for students, faculty, staff and community members with a disability. In compliance with the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, university personnel work with qualified community members and guests to ensure equal access wherever and whenever possible.

Accessible Parking and Transportation

ADA PARKING

ADA accessible parking is available in various locations across campus. In addition to an ADA placard or license plate, persons with disabilities may park in any marked ADA space on campus while displaying a current campus parking permit issued by Parking Services or from a parking meter.

Parking spaces reserved for persons with disabilities are clearly marked and restricted at all times. Only vehicles with state-issued disability license plates or placards may park in these spaces. Other unofficial permits or decals will not be recognized. Temporary disability parking permits are not issued through Mines. In addition to disability license plates or placard, any valid Mines parking permit will allow parking in any disabled space on campus, regardless of location

Public Transportation

Flexride Golden

RTD’s FlexRide division has two types of service, and Golden uses a hybrid of both to best serve the community. A typical FlexRide program is a reservation-based service where customers can schedule a trip anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 days in advance, on a first come first serve basis. For a guaranteed ride, passengers must call two or more hours ahead to schedule a trip, and service is generally curb to curb. Call (303) 519-9162 to reserve your ride for Monday through Saturday. While this type of service works for some, it has its limitations and would not have served the entire community’s needs which is why the FlexRide regular stops were created.
