Beginning Your Job and Internship Search

Not sure where to start with beginning a job search?  The workshop will provide tips and tricks for launching a successful job search, creating a job search plan, and staying motivated.

Career Day Success for international students

Attending the Career Day can be overwhelming, especially for international students. This workshop will help you prepare for Career Day,  offering an overview of what to expect, best practices for preparing, and must-know advice for international students. Resume 101

January 19, 2022 | 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.  |   Zoom

Not sure how to create a resume?  Have a resume but not sure how to update it?  This workshop will teach resume basics including how to format a resume and what content should be included.  This workshop is geared toward students who are creating or updating a resume for the first-time.

Own your career

January 19, 2022 | 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.  |   Zoom

In this hands-on workshop, learn how to stand out while networking with employers to show how you can create value for your future employer. Further, create a portfolio of deliverables based on your Mines coursework and learn new search strategies to get noticed by employers! 

This workshop will be presented by Dr. Sid Saleh, a Mines faculty member in the Department of Economics and Business department.

Career Day Jitters

Lots of people experience nervousness, anxiety, fear, and imposter syndrome when attending Career Day.  Join the Counseling Center for this interactive workshop to learn stress management techniques and wellness tips for managing your mental and physical health during the event.

Advanced Resume Writing

January 20, 2022 | 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.  |   Zoom

When it comes to resumes, the details matter. This workshop will help students advance their resumes by learning strategies for tailoring their resumes towards the jobs they want.  This workshop is geared toward students who have existing resumes and are actively job seeking.

Rapid Resume reviews

January 21, 2022 | 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.  |   Zoom

Need your resume reviewed? Stop by for a quick 15-minute resume review with a campus professional.  Please note, this is a drop-in program and we typically see some wait time.

It is recommended that students bring a current copy of their resume in printed form or electronically in an editable form. This will allow for students to make edits in real-time.

Leveraging LinkedIn

LinkedIn is an amazing tool for the job search!  During this workshop learn how to build a LinkedIn profile and tips and tricks for using LinkedIn to network, job search, and maximize your Career Day connections. Students are encouraged to bring their laptops to work on their LinkedIn throughout the session.

Jobscan Lab

January 27, 2022 | 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.  |   Zoom

Join this active co-working session to learn more about how you can use Jobscan to optimize your resume for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS). Jobscan is a software that helps your resume stand out through simulating how an Applicant Tracking System reviews your resume, and provides recommendations on how to improve your chances of getting seen. For this workshop, please bring a laptop and your completed digital resume.

WIRED! Prep with Reps

January 31, 2022 | 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.

This event is a great opportunity to ease your nerves before Career Day and employers are eager to help!

The day before the in-person Career Day, a number of representatives will volunteer their time to help you prepare for Career Day. In a 15-minute time block, you will have an opportunity to practice your booth approach, practice your elevator pitch, review your resume, and get insider perspectives all in one location.
