Your guide to your Alumni Email "Email Address for Life"

All graduating Mines students will receive an alumni email by default—you don’t need to fill out any forms to get one. You will receive a "Mines Alumni Account Offer" email after you graduate—simply respond to the message and request the account.

If you have already graduated and don’t have an alumni email or an active @mines.edu email address, please complete the form at Service - Alumni Email Access Request

Here’s what you’ll need to do to prepare for your alumni Mines email account:

Update your recovery email address and phone number

In case you are ever locked out of your alumni email account, we’ll need an email or a phone number to verify your identity.

During, or soon after, the checkout process for graduation:

  • Log into your my.mines.edu account (https://my.mines.edu) with your Mines credentials.
    • Search for Banner General Self-Service and select.
    • Click the personal information box.
    • Verify that the email listed under the email section is up-to-date and is a non-Mines email address.
    • If no phone number is listed under the phone number box, add your mobile phone number in case we need to contact you outside of email for any identity verification.

Important reminders about your new alumni email address

  • When your record is inactivated due to graduation, your exchange license will automatically be converted to an alumni license. Once your exchange license has been converted to an alumni license. This mailbox will become your alumni email address mailbox.
  • You will be required to login to my.mines.edu within ninety days after your Alumni license is established, and then at least once per year to keep the account active. Our recommendation is to login at least once each month to the my.mines.edu portal.
  • Your alumni @mines.edu address does not give you access to the school’s VPN, or to Library Proxy resources. All other Microsoft 365 services and licenses will be removed from your account.
  • Your graduation will trigger some changes that will affect your ability to access your files and digital resources in Canvas, OneDrive, Google Drive/Docs, your Z drive, and elsewhere after you leave campus. For a list of these changes, please read this article
