Personal Web Site Management

Colorado School of Mines provides server space for personal websites for faculty, staff and students. We have recently moved toward an entirely new system for hosting personal homepages in an easier-to-edit WordPress environment. To request your new WordPress personal homepage visit https://it.mines.edu/web-services/personal-web-sites/ for details.

Do you already have a Mines personal homepage? All legacy personal homepages can be migrated at any time by following the instructions at the link above. Exceptions may be made for those who have created significant content that can not be hosted in the WordPress environment (e.g., customized HTML, CGI, Perl, Javascript code, or customized layouts and processes) — please contact ITS via the Mines Help Center (https://helpcenter.mines.edu) to make your wishes known.

What is the URL to my personal home page?

All personal homepages in the new WordPress-based system follow the pattern: https://people.mines.edu/username

I cannot log in, what is my username and password on pvm-illuminate?

Your username and password are your Mines username and MultiPass — the same username and password you use to access email, Windows or Linux lab computers, or Trailhead.

Access to Illuminate

Pvm-illuminate.mines.edu is the web server for http://inside.mines.edu/. Pvm-illuminate hosts a few departmental pages, some HTML-based research-group websites, some personal home pages, a document repository, and the http://inside.mines.edu/ web site and its sub-sites. Thus, for historical reasons, many people may still have access to it. If you are one, use your MultiPass username and password to access Illuminate using the applicable protocol (SSH, SFTP, or SCP, generally).

  • Host: pvm-illuminate.mines.edu
  • Login: using your current Mines MultiPass credentials
  • Protocol: SSH, SFTP, or SCP
