Availability: For classroom/lab availability see Campus Computing Labs. ArcGIS Server editions and other related ESRI products are available for standalone computers.
Method for Obtaining:
- ArcGIS for Desktop is available for personally owned computers. Please read these instructions prior to downloading and installing the software. ArcGIS for Desktop can be downloaded from the Mines software download site. An activation key, good for one year, must be requested by submitting a Mines Help Center request.
- Faculty can request multiple copies of activation keys or DVDs to provide to students. These are available directly from ESRI. For more information please submit a Mines Help Center request.
- For installation on Mines-owned computers, submit a Mines Help Center request for installation. For campus-bound computers, connection to the network license server is recommended. All standalone licenses expire annually and must be renewed.
Documentation: Training can be found in the training section of the ArcGIS website. Mines has free access to all courses on ESRI’s Virtual Campus. For information regarding this access please submit a Mines Help Center request.

In case of difficulties running the software in a Mines CCIT managed lab: Contact CCIT via the Mines Help Center. We want the program to be properly installed, licensed and functioning. If you have questions about the use of the program, please contact your instructor, TA or lab manager.
