As an individual who greatly benefits from in-person instruction and coursework, I wanted to take a moment to thank our campus community as a whole for their selflessness and compliance with the oredigger promise. After hearing the news that numerous other universities were forced to return to remote learning within weeks of starting the new semester, I feared that our own school would soon have to return to remote delivery, as well. For me, this would likely mean compromised grades and a semester-long struggle ahead. However, it is now fall break, and I can still happily attend all of my labs and interact with faculty and fellow students here on campus. This would not be possible without a collective, community-wide effort involving all hands on deck. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone involved with the Mines community for wearing a mask. My grades and my spirits are up because of you :)As an individual who greatly benefits from in-person instruction and coursework, I wanted to take a moment to thank our campus community as a whole for their selflessness and compliance with the oredigger promise. Dorie Chen, department manager in Geology and Geological Engineering, has done an amazing job this semester and over the summer keeping our department and our home, Berthoud Hall, safe. She has managed an array of issues in our building, including graduate student access, lab access, reconfiguring classrooms, and she done many other jobs that have kept our students, faculty, and staff safe. Thanks Dorie, for everything you have done this semester and for all of your work over the summer!...
