Pilot Programs

We began piloting some of the recommendations in our Strategic Plan during Summer & Fall 2018 and Spring 2019. Some highlights include:

  • Started the Hiring Excellence Program, which introduces best practices to minimize unconscious bias and broaden our applicant pool
  • Identified mentoring programs on campus, researched best practices, compiled mentoring best practices 
  • Explored wellness opportunities for faculty and staff, education opportunities at other higher education institutions, and best practices to educate campus supervisors on how to provide recognition 
  • Created IPMs (Independent Performance Measures) addressing diversity for performance evaluations which were piloted with CLASS, HR, and WISEM
  • Recommended implicit bias training for P&T Committees
  • Supported creation of Vanguard women’s scholarships
