Dimension of the Month
As we continue to foster a supportive community that prioritizes personal and collective well-being on our campus, Every Oredigger is excited to introduce a new monthly series for the entire Oredigger community.
Each month of the 2024-2025 academic year (September through April), we’ll be highlighting a different dimension of well-being, providing resources related to the month’s dimension, information on well-being activities that students and employees can facilitate during meetings and details on programming happening that month in support of the theme. We’re also challenging you – our awesome Mines students, faculty and staff – to engage in some simple, yet meaningful, work to enhance that area of your well-being over the course of the month.
January Dimension: Physical Wellness
Promoting positive health and helping to prevent physical illness.
Monthly Challenge
BLASTER BINGO is regular bingo but with a physical wellness dimension twist. Complete rows vertically, horizontally, diagonally or a blackout to be entered for wellness-related prizes. Download the bingo card. If you need a hard copy, please visit the Human Resources office in Guggenheim 110. If you participated, please complete the bingo participation form by February 5, 2025 to be entered for a prize drawing.
Monthly Activity
One week before the meeting, send an email to the members asking them to think of a book, periodical, podcast, TED talk, or person that inspires them in their quest for Physical Wellness.
Share the “Physical Wellness Handout” with your team to encourage everyone to set goals for physical wellness in the new year.
- Review the three techniques:
- Mention the tips to assist with goal success
Consider taking your monthly one-on-one meetings mobile! If you’re discussing non-confidential matters, meet while you walk and talk and enjoy our beautiful campus.
Rather than bringing in baked goods and sweets to your break area or front desk, choose to bring in fruit, granola bars, or trail mix.
Give your department a chance to make a healthy choice when they need a morning or afternoon boost!
