December’s Dimension: Physical Wellness
Promoting positive health and helping to prevent physical illness.

Monthly Challenge
Healthy 10 Challenge: challenge yourself to spend 10 minutes daily doing some aspect of Physical Wellness during the month of December. Physical wellness is more than just “being in shape”. Physical well-being includes areas such as sleep, hydration, physical movement, healthy meals and snacks, managing stress, good self-care habits, disease prevention/medical checkups, ergonomics.

Monthly Activity

3 Minutes of Mindfulness
In December, take 3 minutes of mindfulness at the start of a meeting. With the end of the semester and end of year upon us, work and life can be especially stressful. Just even a few slow breaths can:
- settle the nervous system
- allow for increased attention
- counteract stress and burnout
- lead to better collaboration and
- boost memory

1. Share the “Physical Wellness Handout” with your team.
Encourage everyone to remember physical wellness during the end of semester/year busy-ness.
2. Practice stretches at your desk.
Sitting at your desk can really take its toll on your body, and meeting schedules sometimes require an extensive amount of time in our chairs at our desks.
