Monthly Challenge

Volunteer in the Community: Service to others is an essential pillar of spiritual well-being. Volunteering provides individuals with an opportunity to connect with a cause they are passionate about. Service can boost morale and help create a sense of purpose. There are lots of opportunities locally to volunteer. Consider helping out with Blaster’s Basket Food Pantry or volunteering in Golden.

Individual and/or collective well-being

Spiritual Places in Colorado: this article identifies six places in Colorado that are considered spiritual, but there are many more spiritual places in our great state. Maybe you like Mother Cabrini Shrine or Red Rocks Amphitheatre here in Golden. Perhaps you find spirituality on the top of a fourteener or alongside a lake or creek. For this activity, allow everyone to share a special place in Colorado (or their home state/country) that they find to be spiritual and why.

Individual Activities

Take A Break

We encourage you to take a conscious break throughout the workday for reflection or quiet contemplation. This allows you to recharge and reconnect with your personal purpose and mission. It also provides space for you to reflect on your own needs so you can feel empowered to contribute to the organization, your schoolwork, or your team. Taking time for spiritual exercise breaks at lunch or in the late afternoon can help you feel more inspired.

Walk a Labyrinth

Walking a labyrinth is a meditative practice that involves following a path to the center of a labyrinth and back out again. It’s a form of active meditation that can be used for prayer, contemplation, and spiritual centering. A labyrinth will be set up for you to walk on Monday, February 24th from 2:00-6:00 PM. It will be located in the Grand Lobby of the Green Center. Please stop by and walk through the labyrinth.

Sexual and Reproductive Wellness Fair

Monday, February 10 from 2-5 PM in the Student Center Ballrooms. This annual event includes free STI/HIV testing, snacks, and the chance to win donated prizes. Students can talk to campus and community partners about their own sexual and reproductive health and learn tips around healthy communication and consent. We want all Mines students to feel knowledgeable, comfortable, and well-resourced when it comes to their sexual and reproductive wellness.

Fresh Check Day

Wednesday, February 26th from 10am-1pm in the Upper Gym of the Rec Center. Fresh Check Day is a concept created by The Jordan Porco Foundation and designed to bring the whole campus community together to “check-in” on the mental health and wellness of college students. The event is free and has been organized by Student Wellness Promotion with collaborating campus departments, student volunteers, and representatives of The Jordan Porco Foundation. For more information, please visit the Fresh Check day website.
