KAPPA SIGMA (KΣ)

About

Kappa Sigma is the largest college social fraternity in the world with more than 200,000 living members, including over 20,000 undergraduates and 320 chapters and colonies located throughout the United States and Canada. The fraternity was founded on Dec. 10 1869, as five students attending the University of Virginia in Charlottesville gathered in William Grigsby McCormick’s room at 46 East Lawn and planted the seed of Brotherhood.

The chapter here at Mines was chartered on May 21, 1904 by eight men. Since our start, we have had over 1700 alumni from the Gamma Gamma chapter, such as the designer of “The M” to influential philanthropic individuals that still live in the Golden community. Today, the men from our chapter are leaders on campus and are heavily involved with the peer mentor program, SAIL office, and many other organizations.
