Shannon E. Sinclair
Director of Internal Audit
Prior to joining Mines in May 2015, I had been in internal audit for three and a half years and public accounting for five years. I started my career in public accounting with Deloitte where I gained valuable knowledge in auditing and reviewing financial statements for a variety of clients. I also earned my Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designations during this time. The most valuable tool I’ve taken from these experiences is the ability to think through a problem, use available resources, and provide possible solutions to address risks and controls. I enjoy efficiency and am an auditor through and through.
I’ve been in Colorado since August of 2011 and haven’t even brushed the surface yet of the many activities and sites to see. I enjoy snowboarding in the winter and hiking 14ers in the summer. I’m always up for a challenge and enjoy learning what other’s love about this area.
I have worked at Mines for 11 years, in the Office of Research Administration and have grown to love the Mines community. Over my time here I have had the opportunity to engage with individuals whose contributions to research and academia are incredible. I’ve also been able to participate on various projects that have provided me with some insight on how Mines as a whole likes things to work. I’m passionate about the future of CSM, the changes towards improvement and how I can contribute. I look forward to my new position in Internal Audit, and how we can help to keep improving CSM as a whole.

I jokingly claim to have “dual state-ship” because I’ve lived in either Colorado or New Mexico my whole life and love them both. I was raised with the teachings of traditional and ancestral medicine and recently graduated with my Doctorate in Natural Medicine. I’m also a registered psychotherapist and Acu-detox specialist. In my spare time, I work providing services to underserved communities and individuals suffering from post-trauma.
